Bishop Paul L. Brown is a distinguished spiritual leader, accomplished professional, and committed servant whose life exemplifies the seamless integration of faith, scholarship, and community engagement. A graduate of Drexel University, Bishop Brown earned dual degrees in electrical engineering and launched a successful career in the telecommunications industry with Bell of Pennsylvania, Bellcore, and Telcordia Technologies. His professional achievements earned him national recognition, including the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and listing in Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
Yet, Bishop Brown’s most defining calling has been in ministry. Answering God’s leading, he earned his Master of Divinity from Rockbridge Theological Seminary and is presently pursuing doctoral studies in theology. With over four decades of faithful ministry, he now serves as Diocesan Bishop of the Second Episcopal Diocese of the United Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) and is a member of the organization's Executive Board. As a respected voice within the Apostolic fellowship, his leadership reflects both pastoral wisdom and organizational excellence.
Bishop Brown's ministry extends beyond the pulpit into the heart of the community. At First Pentecostal Church in Neptune, New Jersey, where he has faithfully served as Senior Pastor since 1997, he has launched numerous initiatives focused on holistic ministry. His work includes the development of men’s and youth ministries, a pioneering computer training initiative for minority youth, and vital food distribution programs — especially impactful during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is a founding leader of the Midtown Neighborhood Empowerment Council and was instrumental in establishing Monmouth County’s largest community garden, further demonstrating his commitment to meeting both spiritual and practical needs.
Above all, Bishop Brown cherishes his family. Married for over four decades, he and his wife are the proud parents of three children, finding joy in both their family’s growth and in God’s sustaining grace. His life and ministry embody a steadfast devotion to advancing the work of the Kingdom, nurturing the next generation, and building bridges of hope within both church and community.
